Behind the Bean:

This particular washed AB lot hails from Nyeri County, situated on the western slopes of Mount Kenya. Cherries for this lot were grown by smallholder farm members of the Mutheka Farmers Cooperative Society (FCS) and delivered to the Kiandu Coffee Factory. Mutheka manages seven of Nyeri County's coffee factories and supports roughly 6,000 growers.

On arrival, the cherries are sorted, and only cherries that adhere to the wash station’s high-quality standards are selected. They are then immediately fully washed, processed – de-pulped, submerged in water for 12-48hrs, rinsed completely, and then sun dried on raised African beds for up to 3 weeks, and stored prior to export.

We’re excited to share our very first Kenyan lot with you. This coffee left a lasting impression on us—bright, juicy, and fruit-forward, while still maintaining excellent balance and structure. It quickly became a favourite, and we found ourselves reaching for it on pourover again and again. Brewed on filter, it truly shines, revealing vibrant notes of tropical fruit, juicy orange, and sweet stone fruit.

Naturally, we couldn’t resist trying it in milk-based drinks. The addition of milk transforms the cup into a comforting combination of toffee and biscuit, supported by a medium body that carries its character beautifully through milk.
